OMAA announces an exciting temporary closure between Tuesday, May 10 and Friday May 13 during the installation of the new curtain glass wall.
We will be closed to the public during this time. Check our website for the most current information.
Below is a message from the Executive Director with additional details of this project:
Dear OMAA Community,
We are so excited to share the completion of a new ADA-compliant vestibule in the rear of the building. This vestibule, located overlooking William Zorach’s bronze bust Victory, makes the museum more accessible to our many visitors and features increased environmental controls crucial for the preservation of our collection. Standing in this glass-enclosed vestibule encourages all visitors to pause and appreciate the garden and ocean views it creates.
Also important to the security and preservation of our collection is replacing the glass curtain wall in the Leary Gallery. Currently, thick panes of signature glass are about to arrive at OMAA for installation later this week. Instead of delaying our opening to wait for the glass to arrive, we opened the museum with a temporary wall in its place. This temporary wall will be coming down this week, once the signature glass wall is installed. To allow for the installation, OMAA will be temporarily closed between Tuesday, May 10 and Friday May 13. Updates on the museum’s temporary closure will be posted on our website, so be sure to check back here for the latest information.
We look forward to seeing you at the museum and celebrating the success of our new improvements!
Sincerely,
Amanda Lahikainen, PhD
Executive Director of OMAA
