Amanda Lahikainen, PhD, Executive Director of Ogunquit Museum of American Art (OMAA), has appointed Devon Zimmerman, PhD, as Associate Curator of Modern and Contemporary American Art, effective April 4, 2022. In this role, Zimmerman will steward and grow the Museum’s permanent collection, develop exhibition programing, and engage the institution’s donors, docents, and volunteers.
“With his background in modern and contemporary art, Devon will bring a wealth of knowledge and experience to the Museum during this time of growth,” said Lahikainen. “In addition, his expertise in design will elevate the presentation of art in the Museum’s galleries.”
Zimmerman joins OMAA after a diverse career in many prestigious art institutions and universities. Most recently, Zimmerman was at Cooper Hewitt, Smithsonian Design Museum where he was a guest curator and researcher in the Department of Product Design and Decorative Arts. He previously held positions at the Metropolitan Museum of Art and the Museum of Modern Art in New York and taught at Sotheby’s Institute of Art and Marymount Manhattan College.

Zimmerman earned a Doctorate of Philosophy in Art History from the University of Maryland, a Master’s Degree in Art History from New York University’s Institute of Fine Arts, and a Bachelor’s Degree in Art History from Boston College.
