Join us for our annual Permanent Collection Lecture with Dr. Devon Zimmerman, Curator of Modern and Contemporary Art at the Ogunquit Museum of American Art. This event will take place at the Museum on September 16, 5pm, and is free and open to the public. We welcome you to arrive at 5 pm to find your seats and enjoy the galleries; the presentation will begin at 5:30 pm. 

Dr. Zimmerman will lead OMAA’s second annual Permanent Collection Lecture, focusing on the Museum’s recent Alexander Calder acquisition, El Ojo Que Sueño. The lecture will place Calder’s mobile in dialogue with other works in OMAA’s permanent collection, which has long traced the evolution of American modernism through artists connected to Ogunquit and beyond. El Ojo Que Sueño expands this narrative and highlights the international networks that shaped American art in the twentieth century.

Dr. Devon Zimmerman is Curator of Modern and Contemporary Art at the Ogunquit Museum of American Art, where his research focuses on the transatlantic networks that shaped modernism in art and design. Previously, he held positions at the Museum of Modern Art, Metropolitan Museum of Art, and Cooper Hewitt, Smithsonian Design Museum, and had curated exhibitions including Deconstructing Power: W.E.B. Du Bois at the 1900 World’s Fair, Lee Krasner: Geometries of Expression, and Nicole Wittenberg: A Sailboat in the Moonlight.
