Portland Press Herald arts writer Bob Keyes has a surprising and direct connection to major American modernist John Marin and has written extensively on the artist. He will interview Meredith Ward, who has deep knowledge on the life and career of John Marin, and whose New York gallery, Meredith Ward Fine Art, is the exclusive representative of the estate of the artist. The discussion will begin with Marin’s early experiences in Maine, the profound effect it had on his work in particular, and its outsize influence on the history of art more broadly.
Parking for this event will be at the Cape Neddick County Club with continuous trolley service to and from the Museum starting at 4:45pm. The Cape Neddick County Club (CNCC) is located 0.9 miles south of OMAA at 690 Shore Road.
