This exhibition includes 37 contemporary paintings highlighting the artist’s exceptional achievements in the American studio and landscape tradition and is the first monographic survey of Hawley’s work with a museum. The exhibition reunites a series of studio paintings of immense personal significance, a remarkable array of still lifes, and an inspired grouping of abstract seascapes, each ranging from the 1980s to the present. Steve Hawley lives and works in Newburyport, Massachusetts. The exhibition is organized by the Ogunquit Museum of American Art and Independent Curator Katherine French. It will be accompanied by a fully illustrated catalog, an artist-led tour, and lecture. The exhibition and the accompanying publication are made possible by Gail and Ernst von Metzsch with additional support by Timothy B. Ellis.
